Technical Features
Many people have seen what a burglar system looks like. May it be in your office, vehicle, or even in the comforts of your home, these burglar alarm systems are working around the clock to ensure that you are protected against any form of intrusion. So if you are concerned about the safety of your business, your family, or even your own, there are a lot of options when it comes to having burglar alarm systems. But it's up to you to find out what level of protection you feel you need for your peace of mind.
BASIC BURGLAR ALARMS
• A “bells-only” alarm system, is an audible-only alarm, simply screams a noise when it is triggered. A bells-only alarm may deter intruders and alert your neighbours when it goes off, but on its own won't generate a police response.
• A "monitored alarm" system, you will have your system connected via telephone line or radio network to a receiving centre, which typically monitors signals received from your alarm 24 hours a day for a monthly fee. When a motion detector is triggered and a signal is sent to the receiving centre. Staff at the centre then immediately phone your home for password identification and to check everything is OK. If the password ID is not given, or the phone is not picked up, one of the keyholders you have nominated and/or the police are notified.
• A "speech dialler" is a more affordable alternative to a monitored system. This is a device that can be connected to an alarm, or may already be built into the control panel. If there is a break-in, the speech dialler automatically calls the phone numbers that have been programmed in and leaves a pre-recorded message. This could be a neighbour, relative or close friend or simply your mobile phone.
INTRUSION DECTECTION HARWARE
• Passive Infrared Detectors
The passive infrared detector (PIR) is one of the most common detectors found in household and small business environments because it offers affordable and reliable functionality with simplicity.
• Ultrasonic Detectors
Using frequencies between 25 kHz and 75 kHz, these active detectors transmit ultrasonic sound waves that are inaudible to humans. - There must be motion of an object either towards or away from the receiver and the motion of the object must cause a change in the ultrasonic frequency to the receiver relative to the transmitting frequency.
• Microwave Detectors
This device emits from a transmitter and detects microwaves at a receiver, either through reflection or reduction in beam intensity. The transmitter and receiver are usually combined inside a single piece of equipment for indoor applications, and separate ones for outdoor applications.
• Photoe-lectric Beams
Photoelectric beam systems detect the presence of an intruder by transmitting visible or infra red light beams across an area, where these beams maybe obstructed. To improve the detection surface area, the beams are often employed in stacks of two or more.
• Glass Break Detectors
The glass break detector may be used for internal perimeter building protection. When glass breaks it generates sound in a wide band of frequencies which are detected and trigger an alarm.
SIGNALLING
Signalling the intrusion detection requires careful consideration for your arrangement
• A purpose fitted and soley dedicated monitored telephone line to the control centre of your burglar alarm supplier. (If you are considering connecting broadband to your phone line we can firstly consult your broadband provider to check the possibilities)
• Wireless signal transmitted to the alarm company, overcoming the threat of intruder interference with the telephone lines.
• Companies like BT Redcare - constantly monitors existing telephone lines at their control centre, also a GSM line home security monitoring service is now available.
APPLICATION
There are several kinds of burglar alarm systems based on area of coverage as well as the specific needs of the consumer or homeowner. It can go from smaller, self-contained noisemakers for a small home, to a more sophisticated, multi-zoned system with color-coded computer monitor outputs for a large corporations as well. Intruder/Burglar alarm systems are both for homes and offices. There are more and more places that need protection from intruders. A burglar alarm system can now be used on cars, trucks and other vehicles which have important contents. These systems can also be interconnected to one another in case of extreme security needs.
A few of the possibilities with alarm systems:
- Critical Condition Monitoring
- Medical Response Monitoring
- Elevator Telephone Monitoring
- Hold-Up or Panic Alarm Monitoring
- Duress Monitoring; Auto Dialer tests
- Open-Close Signal Tracking, or Supervision
- Open-Close Reporting
- Exception Reports
- IN or Passcode Management
Even though you may have seen what a burglar system looks like, may it be in your office, vehicle, or even in the comforts of your home, these burglar alarm systems are working around the clock to ensure that you are protected against any form of intrusion. So if you are concerned about the safety of your business, your family, or even your own, there are a lot of options when it comes to having burglar alarm systems for real protection
